Local Sales Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to NESN’s Director of Sales, the Local Sales Coordinator is responsible for providing various levels of administrative support with a primary focus on Local House Sales and a secondary focus on supporting the Local Sales Team.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Maintain NESN’s House sales orders including order entry and revisions and traffic
  • Monitor and organize displaced inventory and provide make-goods to resolve outstanding inventory on a daily basis
  • Coordinate House & Local sales sponsorship enhancements prior to on-air execution by working closely with account executives, marketing, creative services and programming
  • Assist Local Account Executives with post buy analysis, sponsorship and element integration
  • Interface via telephone and electronic communication with Fenway Sports Management
  • Distribute affidavit posts, contracts, invoices and exact times upon request
  • Gather House & Local Sales’ executions via video capture, and create one sheets for merchandising
  • Develop and maintain proficiency with sales software tools – Wide Orbit, Strata, Volicon, Ariana, Media Monitors
  • Assist sales team in research projects
  • Work with National Sales Coordinator on creating and updating sales presentations using PowerPoint
  • Attend weekly sales meetings
  • Provide a variety of administrative support
  • Complete other related tasks/projects as necessary

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1+ years of administrative experience; experience supporting a sales department would be a big plus; interest in learning advertising sales
  • Proficient with MS Office applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; proven ability to learn and apply new software applications quickly; solid Internet research skills
  • Superb organizational and multi-tasking skills; must be detail oriented
  • Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills

Operations Resource Scheduler

POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Resource Scheduler works with the Operations leadership team to plan coverage and schedule the Operations staff. With direction from the Operations Managers and Production leadership this position supports the Network’s television production needs including, studio, tape room, control rooms, edit facilities, ENG and remote.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Schedule staff, facilities and equipment to meet the needs of various productions and staff meetings
  • Input schedules, facility and equipment usage into NESN’s scheduling software program, ScheduAll in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the organization
  • Play an active role in planning and budgeting new initiatives and innovative projects
  • Plan and schedule productions to budget
  • As the super user, create and maintain staff schedules, work orders, user accounts and other system requirements for productions in ScheduAll
  • Think forwardly by anticipating problems, preventing conflicts and clearing roadblocks before they occur
  • Work in conjunction with the Assignment Desk to coordinate scheduling and resource needs
  • Work with Production and Operations to coordinate and book facility requests
  • Maintain a solid and up-to-date understanding of show needs and corresponding skill sets, and staff expertise and interests; work towards establishing and maintaining an appropriate balance between all factors
  • Distribute and post work orders and schedules for network Operations as necessary
  • Set expectations by communicating changes and challenges to key staff and stakeholders
  • Perform additional scheduling or administrative duties as needed
  • Perform show and staff reconciliations in ScheduAll along with other network systems and report discrepancies
  • Future potential to assume the responsibilities of scheduling all Production personnel
  • Successfully complete other related projects and tasks as needed

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Four or more years related television studio production/operations/remote experience
  • Working knowledge of television operations roles and equipment

News Producer

POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Coordinating Producer, the Producer is responsible for the visionary planning, daily editorial oversight, scriptwriting, organization and creative execution of a sports-news show that is based upon nightly sports news programming on NESN. He/She must understand, support, maintain, and help lead the company news philosophy and success narrative. He/She will interface with existing show productions to share content that is relevant for shows. The Producer will work interdependently with other staff producers on creative and editorial assignments of anchors/reporters, and production personnel, including content producers, associate producers and production assistants.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Oversee sports-news content and lead the editorial voice for NESN’s sports news shows
  • Execute all scriptwriting and creative re-writes of the nightly show scripts for quick-turnaround production
  • Routinely collaborate with NESN’s Digital Business Unit to drive content integration and editorial consistency
  • Plan show assignments, elements, and formats to be executed interdependently and seamlessly within current sports-news productions and, as appropriate, to use additional resources
  • Lead the organization and execution of content creation by multiple show-units, across several divisions, which will be integrated within shows
  • Guide junior staff’s performance and development on scriptwriting, leadership, editorial, technical and creative skills and abilities
  • Lead Associate Producers and Production Assistants to achieve high quality creative content, including writing and execution of assigned elements
  • Oversee editing and, as needed do own re-cutting of sports highlights/content on non-linear editing system
  • Work in conjunction with the Director of News, Coordinating Producer, Supervising Producers and Assignment Manager to establish production assignment schedules, run production meetings, plan ENG and live shot resources, as well as news production schedules
  • Pitch and/or write timely and creative story ideas to Coordinating Producer and other show units that will enhance the quality and production of all NESN programming
  • Assist and supervise Content Producers, Associate Producers and Production Assistants with graphical elements, video material, editorial judgment and live show execution
  • Work closely with the Coordinating Producer to ensure that overall production adheres to conceived format, procedural guidelines and NESN’s news philosophy
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the production and programming vision of the network and ensure that programs are consistent with NESN’s business strategy
  • Lead execution of interactive television & social media coverage on shows
  • Continuously improve news productions by working with production staff to conduct screenings of the telecasts for the staff and talent to review their work
  • Responsible for the necessary production judgments and for overseeing pre and post-production editing of programs and ensure re-airs remain relevant
  • Partner with Operations to identify and communicate operational needs/resources and ensure those needs are met
  • Provide routine feedback of production staff on their professional development to Director of News and Coordinating Producer
  • Work with Creative Services to identify and communicate graphic needs
  • Organize and manage meetings and conference calls related to programs as required
  • Assemble information and materials needed for the production of programs
  • Successfully perform other duties as assigned by the Director of News/Coordinating Producer

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 6+ years of experience in live sports news or sports content production is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Broadcasting, Radio/TV/Film or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Significant live studio producing and content creation experience on a sports-news show is required
  • Exceptional scriptwriting abilities with a portfolio of sports-television writing work is essential.
  • Knowledge of ENPS is preferred
  • Creative with a strong sports knowledge of major professional leagues/teams required; good understanding and knowledge of Boston sports/teams strongly preferred
  • Solid non-linear editing ability and knowledge of non-linear editing equipment is required
  • Very strong written, verbal communication and organizational skills are required
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively and interdependently in a team-oriented environment across various departments
  • A demonstrated ability to work under limited supervision in a high pressure and loosely structured environment is essential
  • Experience supervising staff on show productions
  • Strong project management experience is required

Studio Producer

POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Coordinating Producer of Studio, this position will develop, create and line produce innovative network quality television productions of live Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins and other pre-game and post-game shows, and produce and edit creative elements for such studio shows, as assigned.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Produce live pre and post game shows (studio and remote) and other productions, as assigned
  • Develop, conceive, create and execute show rundown and editorial decisions
  • Develop and implement a focused role for all talent assigned to the telecast
  • Work closely with on-air talent to achieve highest level of performance
  • Produce and edit creative elements for studio shows including high end teases, historical roll-ins, analysis, sound-full recaps and bumps
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding for the production and programming vision for the network and ensure that, pre and post-game shows and other productions, as assigned, are consistent with NESN’s business strategy and programming, production and news philosophy
  • Work closely with all facets of the production and operations staff and talent to improve shows, including aligning with senior producer of studio content and coordinating producer of studio on short-term and long-term planning
  • Lead from studio perspective AM planning calls with remote
  • Take and distribute comprehensive notes before, during and after each assignment and leave proper communicate to senior management
  • Achieve fluency in content center integration, ENPS and control room cadence to lead a studio production in an automated control room environment
  • Achieve fluency in the ratings wheel and audience retention methods in order to maintain ratings from show to show
  • Collaborate with news management and news producers on content sharing, original content segments and messaging
  • Properly tease items for news, ONE and other shows within the studio and lead creative enhancements of sponsored elements
  • Collaborate with operations and  production supervisor to ensure production and operations needs are met for each show
  • Provide consistent and annual feedback to various supervisors on content producer, graphic producer and associate producer performance and development needs
  • Make recommendations for show improvements on a consistent basis throughout the course of the season

EDUCATION:

  • BA in Communications, Broadcasting, Radio/TV/Film, or equivalent work experience required

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years experience in live studio, event or news production is necessary
  • Experience producing live sports studio, events or news is preferred
  • Ability to edit with non-linear equipment (Sony preferred)
  • Experience with production budgets is helpful

Technical Operations Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY:

The New England Sports Network (NESN) is owned by the Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins and is the definitive source for New England sports programming. We are looking for a Technical Operations Supervisor to join out Operations team.

Reporting to the Technical Operations Manager, the Technical Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing master control and video shading and supervising all permanent part-time and seasonal part-time personnel within the technical operations area. This position will work as part of a collaborative operations team and have superior knowledge of the technical operations in master control and video control including signal flow in a multi layered signal environment.  Responsibilities include providing support to other departments as it pertains to master control and video control duties, assisting the Tech Ops Manager in developing and implementing daily procedures for training and mentoring of master control and production technician staff, and providing assistance in scheduling and evaluating staff and maintaining budgetary guidelines.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Oversee daily operation of master control and video control.
  • Supervise and manage part-time and seasonal technical operations employees including managing performance, conducting reviews, managing employee relations and assuring compliance with existing company policies and procedures.
  • Work with the Technical Operations Manager to identify individual operator developmental and training needs; make recommendations as to hiring, advancement, promotion, termination and other change of status of master control and production technician operators.
  • Provide feedback for the individual performance reviews of full-time employees.
  • Work with the technical operations manager in the training, development and scheduling of staff for maximum efficiency.
  • Assist with training of operators as needed based on experience and needs of the department.
  • Recommend and implement new procedures as dictated by the developing needs of the network both on a technical and operational level.
  • Maintain a high level of communication with engineering, traffic and programming to assure superior performance in support of those departments.
  • Maintain superior knowledge of master control and video control areas as well as overall knowledge of signal flow through all areas of operations; assist technical operations manager in developing and recommending improvements.
  • Provide support as operator in duties assigned to master control and video control.
  • Participate in developmental programs to improve and enhance supervisory skills and knowledge.
  • Successfully complete other related projects and tasks as needed

 

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years master control or 6+ years in a live production environment.
  • 2+  years in team leadership position

Sr. Systems Administrator

POSITION SUMMARY:

The New England Sports Network (NESN) is owned by the Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins and is the definitive source for New England sports programming. Reporting directly to the IT Manager, the primary role of the Senior Systems Administrator is to be the subject matter expert for all core infrastructure including virtualization, storage, networking and security. Supporting knowledge and experience with operating systems, peripherals, and applications will be used to provide reliable and timely escalated support to critical corporate systems for the entire NESN user community of approximately 225+ users.  We are looking for a talented and experienced senior-level technical person to propose, design, develop, and implement desktop, server, network, security, application, and telephone upgrades and installations.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide timely and effective desktop and server support to NESN users
  • Identify, troubleshoot and resolve network performance issues
  • Consistently re-prioritize break-fix issues and projects effectively and successfully
  • Propose and recommend desktop, server and network upgrades, patches, new applications and equipment. Purchase new hardware and software as needed.
  • Setup, configure, and support internal and/or external networks
  • Configure and support remote SSL/VPN access
  • Support company iPhones and the MobileIron MDM platform
  • Manage and maintain vendor and manufacturer relationships to resolve IT issues

  • Demonstrable experience with the following technologies desired: Windows Server 2008/2012, AD GPO policies, Exchange 2010, SQL 2008/2012, Microsoft Office 2007/2010, Windows 7/10, backup systems, desktop, laptop, server hardware, Avaya VOIP phones, Anti-Virus (Sophos), iPhones/iPads, mobile device management (MobileIron), Aerohive wireless, Proofpoint end point security, Cisco networks, Check Point firewalls and firewall policies in general.
